Band Biography:With
an intimate and dynamic approach to the adult/alternative genre, Bastet combines
traditional rock and folk themes into emotionally charged songs that touch the
heart and speak to every corner of the human soul. Bastet’s sound is the
culmination of Songstress Adrienne Skeels’ emotional and revealing lyrics
interlaced with both warm and haunting melodies. Backed by the rhythmic and
colorful guitar playing of John Skeels, the melodic bass playing of Erik
Schieffer and the commanding beats laid down by drummer Jay Turnage. Since
the spring of 2002, Bastet has performed at various venues in the DFW area as
well as Tulsa, Oklahoma and Houston, Texas. In June 2004, Bastet's single
"Gotta Be On My Way" was included on Small Guy Record's Catalog One
Big Music from DFW; A compilation of 18 bands from around the DFW area which has
had wide regional distribution. Bastet has also received many listener awards on
Garageband.com. "Gotta Be On My Way" with: 'track of the day' for
February 17th, 2004 and "He Said" with: 'track of the day' for March
31st, 2005, 'best female vocals in folk/rock,' 'best guitar in folk/rock,’ and
'best melody in folk/rock.' In addition to the band’s original music, Bastet is ready to fill the night with a growing set of songs by some familiar artists in the music industry. Bastet
performs songs by: Counting Crows, No Doubt, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan, Depeche Mode, Soft Cell, Rolling Stones, Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers, Lisa Loeb, U2, Train, Sheryl Crow, Peggy Lee, Melissa Etheridge, Outkast, Green Day, Dishwalla, Cold Play, The Church, Ani Difranco, Alanis Morissette, Blind Melon, Natalie Imbruglia |
